What is the TypeFinder for Individuals assessment?

The TypeFinder for Individuals is a validated, updated assessment of the 16 personality types created in the 1960's by Isabel Myers and Katharine Briggs. Based on four major personality preferences that address an individual's way of managing energy, making decisions, and relating to others, and expanded to include 23 distinct traits, the TypeFinder for Individuals brings powerful insight to coaching and counseling, couples work, and individual development plans.

What does the TypeFinder for Individuals measure?

The TypeFinder assesses the four preference pairs developed by Isabel Briggs Myers, via independently validated scales based on research conducted with a diverse global sample. These preference pairs reference key components of thought and behavior and provide insight into many aspects of work style.

  • Extraversion vs. Introversion. This measure of energy style describes whether a person is energized by the outside world of activity and other people, or the internal world of thought and feeling.
  • Sensing vs. Intuition. This measure of cognitive style describes whether a person focuses on facts and details, or theory and big-picture understanding.
  • Thinking vs. Feeling. This measure of values style describes whether a person prioritizes concerns of logic and rationality, or person-centered concerns like empathy and harmony.
  • Judging vs. Perceiving. This measure of task management style describes whether a person tends to be more structured and planned, or spontaneous and flexible.

In addition, the TypeFinder for Individuals measures 23 more detailed traits that help bring a more complex understand of a person's distinct style in thinking, behaving, and relating to others. These trait scores illuminate understanding beyond a simple 16-type description and bring nuance and depth to the results.
